Romans 13:1-7 states, “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.”
Yes every one has to obey the law. Even the Church Body
Yes! Everyone must submit him/herself to the governing authorities, the authorities that exist, have been established by God.We are to obey the government in everything we do,paying taxes, obeying rules and laws and showing respect, not just in the church, but in the workplaces as well, doing whatever the person in charge asks you to do.
Yes!!!! This is pleasing to God but we also are suppose to be an example to the world so that they will follow us as we follow Christ!!!
I believe the purpose of the law is to reveal the soverignty of God, to place a restraint on the sinner, and to show the greatness and reality of sin. I believe by obeying the laws on the earth, we are obeying God.
yes, it is one of God's many commandments written in the bible.
Christians are to obey the laws of the land, as long as they to not go against God and his statutes.
I would say according to Romans 13:1-8, Yes!
Christians are to obey the laws of the land. If we do not obey the laws of the land what kind of message are we sending to the unsaved? How can we effectively proclaim and convey the Good News. As representatives of Christ we are the salt of the Earth (Matthew 5:13). We are to submit and obey authority and we want to refrain from being offensive by disobeying the laws of the land (Matt 17:24-27).
I would say yes we as Christian must obey the law
The authorities that exist have been established by God. The person who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. We must obey the rules of the land they are ordained by God.
Yes because God Made laws for us to follow so on earth we have to follow the laws.
The bible states in 1 peter 2:13 o submit yourselves to every ordnance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; or governors,as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put o silence the ignorance of foolish men. Christians do have to obey the laws of the land. We are the very examples of Christ himself. So we should lead the way to right doing.
Yes - Roman 13
Next time before I reply I will read what everyone else wrote first! :)
Since there were others that mentioned Rom 13, let me point out another relevant scripture relating to this question.
1 Peter chapter 2:13-25 and chapter 3, doesn't just speak to this question but it defines the Character in which a person should live. The 2 verse I particularly drew out of this are:
1 Peter 2:14 "Honor all men, love the brotherhood, FEAR GOD, Honor the King.
1 Peter 3:1-2 "Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; 2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear."
Fearing GOD ought be the foundation in which every Christian lives their life. For the character of a GOD Fearing Person is without parallel and is certainly at the very heart of GOD.
Yes, Christians must obey the laws of the land to a degree. Some laws we must protest to get them changed. Ei: Abortion! Abortion is not in God's will because if it was He would have aborted a whole lot of us.
As long as the law of the land does not contradict the law of God, we are bound to obey. As soon as the law of the land contradicts God's command, we are to disobey the law of the land, and obey God's law. However, even in that instance, we are to accept the government’s authority over us. This is demonstrated by the fact that Peter and John did not protest being flogged, but instead rejoiced that they suffered for obeying God (Acts 5:40-42). So yes, we as Christians are to submit ourselves to the governing authorities as noted in the scripture, which includes abiding by the laws of the land.
Generally, knowing from personal experience, if we express to the Judge that swearing is against our religion, they may dismiss you, but if not, we are to abide by the laws of the land, as noted in the other comments and God already knows the outcome.
Howeversomething we shouldconsider as Christians is that serving in this capacity, we bring to the courts/jury the Christians point of view. That is why it is important for us to vote, even if the issues we vote do not pass, at least we are making sure the elected officials understand we do not agree and we are going to at least cast our vote. Another “side” to consider is that by doing so, what usually happens is the news media will look into those that voted against a particular law, so in essence we can be heard without “visible protest."
Yes we should obey the laws of the land. God put people here own earth to take his place, so they should heed to his word &obey the laws he has given. Man has made many changes and it is always said this is a generation &nobody does thing the like they did back then. But I believe God still wants us to be obedient to his word. Just as Adam & Eve was disobedient' that was the change of the world. We are held accountable for what we do. We are suppose to be examples of who Jesus is.
And He Shall Direct Your Paths.

We Cannot Also Depend Upon Our Own Ability To Understand Everything God Is Doing
